Regular Season:
Game Structure: 3-12 Minute Stop-Time Periods Two Minutes will be allotted for warm-up, starting immediately after the zamboni has exited the ice surface and the Zamboni doors are closed. The clock will run throughout the third period if there is a seven-goal differential ("mercy rule"). The clock will run during any physical altercation on the ice. If there is a tie at the end of regulation, a point will be given to each time, no overtime will be played.
Timeout Rule: Each team will receive one 30-second timeout per game.
Playoffs
Overtime: Sudden death overtime (playoffs only) will consist one 10-minute overtime 5v5, then one 5-minute overtime of 3v3. If after the two overtime periods no goal is scored, teams will then run a 3-round shootout until a winner is determined. Teams may use the same shooter unlimited times after the first 3 rounds.

Game Rules
Playing Rules:
NCAA Men's Hockey rules will be enforced in the league.
Exceptions'-CHECKING IS NOT PERMITTED, MCAHL WILL USE AUTOMATIC ICING RATHER THAN HYBRID
AT NO TIME ARE PLAYERS OR PUCKS ALLOWED ON THE ICE UNTIL THE ZAMBONI DOORS ARE SHUT - Anyone shooting pucks before the Zamboni is off the ice and doors are shut will be ejected from the game, any player violating this rule will be suspended from the league after the second offense. Game officials are to monitor the ice and assure that no players or pucks are on the ice until the Zamboni doors are shut after the ice makes. This is to be strictly enforced!
The game officials have been instructred to call the games tightly and consistently, and are empowered by the Mullins Center Ice Rink to make any and all calls that they deem appropriate during the course of league play. Bumping along the boards will be allowed so long as it is in the course of play and incidental.
Penalties will be as follows:
- Minor Penalty - 1.5 Minutes
- Major Penalty - 5 Minutes
- Miscoonduct - 6 Minutes
- Game Misconduct - Game Ejection
- Disqualification - Ejection from the game and 1 game suspension
- Gross Misconduct - League Suspension
Provisions
- Drawing Blood
- Automatic major (Referee's Discretion on misconduct with major)
- Attempt to injure
- Gross Misconduct and league suspension of player
- Intentional Checking
- Team receives a major penalty (served by another player); offending player recceives a game misconduct. The offending player will be ejected from the game and also sits out the next league game.
- Fighting
- Fighting: Any incident where a punch is thrown or a player intends to injure another player.
- First Incident: Game Misconduct and a League Suspension
- Second Incident: Game Misconduct, a League Suspension, and a $100 Fine. Fine must be paid by the individual before the player will be allowed to return to league play.
- Third Incident: Game Misconduct, A league suspension or removal, and a $250 TEAM fine. Fine must be paid by the team captain before the team will be allowed to return to league play.
- Verbal Abuse of Officials
- 1st Incident: Game Misconduct
- 2nd Incident: League Suspension
- Physical Abuse of officials
- 1st Incident: League Suspension and a $250 team fine. The first incident by any individual will result in an automatic league suspension of that individual. Physical abuse is defined bas any physical ccontact with an official. The fine must be paid by the team captain before the team will be allowed to return to league play. Addiditional legal acction may be taken by the official and/or league.
- 3 Penalty Rule
- Any player receiving 3 minor penalties in one game is ejected from that game on the third infraction. Another player on the team must serve the 3rd minor penalty.
Roster Rules:
- All rosters must be submitted to the league director 24 hours before the first game.
- A roster must have a minimum of 8 skaters + 1 goalie at the beginning of a season, and a maximum of 15 skaters and 2 goalies.
- In order to begin a game, a team must have a minimum of 4 skaters + 1 goalie. The opposing team does NOT have to play with 4 skaters. Failure to have the minimum number of skaters on the ice 10-minutes following the scheduled puck drop will result in a forfeit.
- Players under the age of 18 are not permitted. League officials have the right to complete an ID check for any players they suspect may be under the age of 18. Officials may ask players to leave if they fail to complete ID Checks.
- Players are only elligible for playoffs if they have played in a minumum of 1 regular season game that they were eligible for.
Subs:
- Sub skaters are only allowed during the regular season. NOT DURING PLAYOFFS
- Sub skaters may not be utilized if a team already has 10 or more skaters available for a game.
- Goalie subs can be utilized at any point in the regular season or playoffs.
- Goalie subs can only be utilized if a team's goalie is injured or unavailable.
- Any team utulizing a substitute player must notify the league director within 24 hours of the next game. The sub must be approved by the league director in order to play.
- Sub players must fill out the league waiver and sign-in sheet prior to stepping on the ice.
- Must read and sign waiver.
- Need email, phone number, date of birth.
Registrations:
- All rostered players must read and completely fill out the registration form.
- Any player who fails to do so may be asked by officials to leave playing surface until registration is complete.
Waivers:
- Player waivers must be filled out by all participants playing in the MCAHL
- Any player who fails to do so may be asked by officials to leave playing surface until registration is complete.
Jurisdiction: Referees shall have complete control of ice and player boxes. League officials and rink management shall control all other areas.
Captains: Each team shall designate (1) player as a captain with a "C" on the left chest of the jersey. This player shall be the only member of his/her team that may ask for an explanation of a call or ruling. Captains may not argue or question calls.
Protests/Grievences: Protst and grievances will only be accepted in written form within 24 hours of the end of the game on an official Mullins Center Hockey protest grievance form. The league committee will decide protest within 48 hours of submission. All decisions of the league committee will be deemed final. No protested games shall be re-played. No judgement calls by an official will be overturned unless in the opinion of the league overwhelming evidence exists that the official was malicious in intent in making the call. Officials, like all of us are human and capable of making mistakes; we must accept that as part of the game.
